A unique perspective on eyewear
Welcome
May we introduce ourselves
Hoet Optiek is not a traditional optician. It never has been. We are a Bruges-based family business where, for six generations, eyewear has been regarded as more than a tool to improve vision. A frame says something about who you are. About how you see the world. And about how you wish to be seen.
Designers of your image. This philosophy has been at the heart of our craftsmanship for generations. Because the right pair of glasses does more than improve your vision: it expresses your personality.
This conviction runs like a common thread throughout the Hoet story: from the very first workshop in Bruges to the eyewear boutique that today welcomes clients from all over the world.
1884
Where it all began
The roots of Hoet lie in Roeselare, where our very first optical workshop opened in 1884. After establishing stores in Menen, Mouscron, and Ghent, the family decided to open a store at Vlamingstraat 19 in Bruges, and we have remained there ever since.
As one of the first optical stores in Belgium, Leon Hoet brought exclusive collections to Bruges. Today, his distinctive vision is still reflected in an exceptional selection of top-brand eyewear as well as in our own designs.
Each generation has added something to our story: new techniques, new materials, new ideas. But the foundation has remained the same—craftsmanship, personal advice, and the courage to look at eyewear differently.
Own visual language
Patrick Hoet
Patrick Hoet, Lieselotte’s father, transformed the family business into a true eyewear boutique together with his wife, Ria Gykiere. Behind the drawing board, he became the creative force behind the brand. As co-founder and brand architect of THEO (1986), he developed a distinctive visual language and introduced groundbreaking innovations, including the world’s first laser-cut titanium eyewear.
He later made history once again as the pioneer of fully customised, 3D-printed titanium eyewear. With the Hoet Couture collection, he became the first in the world to print titanium frames tailored entirely to the wearer’s facial anatomy and personality.
Today, the Hoet design studio is led by his eldest daughter, Bieke Hoet, who continues to develop and expand the family’s innovative design vision. A signature that remains at the very heart of the Hoet style to this day.
Sixth generation
Lieselotte Hoet
Raised in a family where eyewear was part of everyday life, Lieselotte Hoet, the sixth generation, developed an early and strong sense of design and personality. She has a clear ambition: to further grow Hoet Optiek without losing the character of the house.
Under her leadership, together with her husband Frederik Ghesquière, Hoet Optiek has grown into a destination for lovers of exceptional eyewear. A place where design, craftsmanship, and personal service come together.
